How is this different from a survey sentiment analysis tool?
Theme analysis identifies what people are discussing and how those topics appear across the dataset. Sentiment analysis focuses on whether each comment is positive, neutral, negative, or mixed. This tool includes sentiment as one lens within a broader thematic survey analysis.

What does the survey theme analyzer produce?
Every finished download is an XLSX workbook with Original Data, Analyzed Responses, Theme Summary, and Executive Summary worksheets. Original Data is an untouched audit copy; the analyzed sheet keeps the headered dataset fields and adds the analysis.
Can I include NPS or another rating scale?
Yes. For one-response-per-row files, select the numeric rating column. For one-answer-per-row files, select the exact rating question. Identify it as NPS or a custom scale. The workbook also summarizes clearly structured question-and-score pairs, such as Question: 4, found within a response row.
What if my export has one survey answer per row?
Choose One question-and-answer per row. Then map the question and answer columns and select the exact written-feedback question. If the export includes a response ID, select it to connect each rating with the matching comment; otherwise ratings are reported separately.
How are themes kept consistent?
The tool first creates one evidence-based theme codebook for the uploaded comments, then classifies every meaningful response against that fixed list. A response receives one primary theme and, when appropriate, one secondary theme.
What does Clear Theme Example mean?
A Yes identifies a comment that clearly illustrates its assigned primary theme. It does not mean the response is better or more important than other comments; it simply makes a useful example when reviewing or presenting the theme.
What happens to blank comments or values such as N/A?
Blank cells and common non-responses such as N/A, NA, no comment, and not applicable remain in the analyzed worksheet but are not sent for text analysis. Populated text is also labeled as detailed feedback, brief feedback, or non-feedback so identifiers and misplaced answers do not distort theme metrics.
How long are uploaded survey files stored?
The original upload, delivery email, and temporary processing files are deleted as soon as processing finishes or fails. The analyzed result remains available through its private link for seven days.
Can I upload protected health information?
No. Remove names, email addresses, account numbers, protected health information, and other regulated or identifying information before using this free public tool.
